PSU visits SEAMEO Biotrop; inks MOU with Indonesia’s IPB for research collab

Paving the way for more international opportunities, the Pangasinan State University signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Institut Pertanian Bogor University (IPB) in Bogor City, Indonesia and served as resource speaker at the Southeast Asian Regional Center for Tropical Biology (SEAMEO Biotrop)

The MOU states that both parties intend to encourage collaboration in the case of establishing academic, research and outreach partnerships. The terms of each particular programme or activity will be agreed upon by both parties through separate agreements.

The PSU was represented by its Vice-President for Research, Extension, Innovation and Gender and Development (REIGN), Dr. Paulo V. Cenas while the IPB UniversIty in Bogor, Indonesia was represented by the Vice-Rector for International Affairs, Collaboration and Alumni Relations, Prof. Dodik Ridho Nurrochmat.

The Institut Pertanian Bogor University is ranked 41 out of 1.543 Universities in the World QS WUR Version by Subject Agriculture and Forestry in 2022.

Meanwhile, Dr. Cenas also served as resource speaker on a workshop on Sustainable Use of Ecosystem Services on Coastal and Terrestial Areas held at the South East Asian Regional Center for Tropical Biology.

SEAMEO BioTrop is one of the Centers of Excellence under the Southeast Asian Minsters of Education Organization with a mission to provide leadership in critical and strategic areas of tropical biology relevant to the region and promote regional networking and partnership on human resource development , research , consultancy, information dissemination and other related activities in these areas, all the while ensuring their sustainability.

Joining Dr. Cenas in this momentous event are Engr. Rex T. Basuel (head of MATIC Center) and Engr. Quincy Jones B. Bundal (head of Salt Technology and Innovation Center).
