Pangasinan State University (PSU) President Dr. Dexter Buted faces the Pangasinan Provincial Board anew but this time, he left the room with smiles and a bright hope for new beginnings and fruitful collaboration.
In a Monday meeting with Vice Governor Mark Ronald DG. Lambino and members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan at the SP Lounge of the Capitol Building, Dr. Buted highlighted the accomplishments of the PSU for the past eight years.
Dr. Buted showcased PSU’s journey which is characterized by numerous successes to include being one of only 20 SUCs in the country which garnered the Level IV status; the first state university in the Philippines and in Asia with Investors in People Gold Award; and the first and only Higher Education Institution in the country, both private and public, to receive the most coveted Philippine Quality Award Level III or the Mastery in Quality Management.
PSU is also home to several topnotchers of board examinations and is a constant awardee in research and extension programs.
Another PSU project introduced to the Board was Project AKBAY for the out-of-school youth that aims to strengthen the Education For All mantra.
Dr. Buted said he was thankful to the new set of provincial board members for recalling Provincial Resolution No. 505 declaring him persona non grata in 2016.
It can be remembered that after six years, on July 18, 2022, Vice-Gov. Lambino moved for the recall of Resolution No. 505 and the lifting of the persona non-grata status of Dr. Dexter Buted of PSU.
Resolution No. 647 series of 2022, approving such, was signed by the SP members on the same day.
“With the negative status tagged with me then, it was not I who was deprived of the many opportunities for collaborative programs and projects with the province but the thousands of students in the PSU community. Now, there are a lot of things that can be done with the provincial government and the municipal and city government that could benefit our employees and students,” Dr. Buted said.
PSU and the Provincial Government of Pangasinan led by Governor Ramon Guico III will be signing a memorandum of agreement soon for the different programs and projects regarding research, community extension program, scholarships, use of facilities and the gender and development programs.
