Free Flu shots offered to PSU Employees
ENSURING A HEALTHY WORKFORCE. Starting this October, the Pangasinan State University (PSU) Medical and Dental Unit is offering a free influenza vaccination to all teaching and non-teaching staff to support the workforce in this pandemic situation.
The unit headed by Dr. Christia Marie P. Flores, University Physician, is conducting a rotation in all departments in the Main Office and Lingayen Campus to administer the vaccination.
“The flu vaccine may help a person prevent him/her from contracting any virus thus making him/her less susceptible to Covid-19 or any kind of flu-related diseases, “ Dr. Flores said on one interview.
Said activity is part of the university’s advocacy to safeguard employee’s welfare and to cater needs by ensuring the health of every member of the institution.
“At first hesitant ako kasi nga baka may side effects but upon learning that there’s no such, I felt at ease and healthy. As explained by our university physician, taking the vaccine will boost our immune system to help us with our fight against the virus,” Mr. Fred Lalimarmo, a faculty member of College of Education, said.
He also added that this advocacy of the university is a testament that even in these trying times, the administration is taking efforts to promote health and safety of every PSUnian.
Flu, like coronavirus, is a viral infection that is passed on through coughs and sneezes. In the Philippines, the flu season which coincides with the rainy season, starts in October according to Department of Health. Aside from free flu shots, the unit is also conducting online consultation to continue providing healthcare services to students, teachers and even some stakeholders thru their Facebook page which can be reached at facebook.com/PSU-Main-Medical-Dental-Services-103984974739632/. /mmpd
