Best Practices

Higher education institutions are mandated to render extension service hand in hand with instruction, research and production. This is in recognition of the vital role colleges and universities play in the development of communities, especially the underserved and the underprivileged.

The Pangasinan state University, as a leading institution of higher learning in the province, is committed to carry out its extension service function with the creation of the Office for Extension Services, with the primary goal of achieving sustainable partnership with the government and private organizations in poverty alleviation. The IT Department under the College of Arts, Sciences and Technology responds more adequately to the training needs of communities, industries, public and private agencies/ organizations and to the members of the academe.

As one of the community’s partner, PSU-BC’s IT Department have Computer Literacy Training Program for Tanolong Elementary School Teachers (2018-2021), Gift-giving and Feeding Program for Brgy. Pantol (2019-2020) and Computer Literacy Training Program in cooperation with Department of Agrarian Reform Region 1 Provincial Office (April 2018) among others. With these simple ways of helping, the PSU-BSIT is not just excellent in delivering quality education but also, in addressing various needs of the community through relevant service delivery.

By creating linkages inside and outside the campus is one of the ways in assuring that the clients of the PSU IT are best served.
Prior to the pandemic, hygiene kits were given to Bayamabanguenos where the IT Department have participated in partnership with other departments and organizations. Extending help to others does not end here.

Regularly, PSU-BC’s IT department participates in the community pantry as a part of helping those who are in need. It has been one of the many ways of BSIT in extending hand to the community.

Indeed, a well sustained service is a stepping stone to progress. As the IT Department envisions that the people of the community, the main focus of the University’s extension services program, can be uplifted from helplessness to self – reliance, from ignorance to increased awareness, from indifference to positive involvement, and from aimlessness to commitment.
