The Bachelor of Arts in English Language Department of the Pangasinan State University-Bayambang Campus has consistently endeavored in producing scholarly works that contributes to the betterment of the community around it. Among its best practices are setting and cascading of Research and Development targets, enhancing the researchers’ capabilities through in-house and field training and the University’s support for research proposals. Notable researches focused on curriculum of literature, composition, language and linguistics, and communication studies. Meanwhile, in the field of publication, works of its faculty and students were stringently `screened and published on research journals.
Aside from providing a transformative education to students, the ABEL department is persistently striving in order to make itself relevant not just to its students but also to the community where it belongs. Researches from the department has benefitted the locals, equipping them with necessary knowledge on areas related to English language as well as language and linguistics. Concerned for the holistic learning and development of its community, the ABEL Department had also forged linkage with the Local Government Unit in providing training for the local populace regarding communication studies, literature, publication and composition. Thus, a program known for instilling the sense of excellence to its students, it also endeavors to provide holistic learning and experience for the surrounding locality.
As a natural byproduct of keeping itself relevant, the Institute had produced researches for the benefit of other scholars in the media and publishing occupations, such as writing, translating and editing. In 2018 alone, the Pangasinan State University-Bayambang Campus had earned 51 citations to which researches from the ABEL Department has generously contributed. On the other hand, in service of the community to where it is located, the department had trained the local populace techniques and strategies on academic and scholarly work, such as teaching and research, business and industry jobs, such as public relations, advertising, and documentation.
