BAYAMBANG CAMPUS ABEL Accreditation
Area IX

Best Practices

Pangasinan State University – Bayambang Campus is expected to fulfil its obligation of equipping all students with the competence and qualities needed to face the challenges beyond four corners of the classroom. Students develop and acquire new set of unique learning experiences; they can have a hands-on experience using adequate equipment. All the laboratory equipment in the ABEL Department is well maintained, computers and other technologies are periodically monitored as an efficient learning tool for students’ training and assessment. There are guidelines for maintenance of laboratory that must be followed by the students. Guidelines are intended to ensure the optimal experience of the students and to promote safe, knowledgeable, effective learning area that reinforces highest level of development and readiness. All laboratory equipment is stored properly, cleaned, checked regularly because the school has maintenance and repair personnel which provide services on direct call. Repairs which are technical and beyond the knowledge of the personnel mentioned above are channeled to the respective distributors or suppliers.

Highly skilled and competent computer technician is hired to check and to ensure the functionality and safety of each computer unit in the laboratory., In adherence to R.A. 7277 (Magna Carta for Disabled Persons), the campus hired a PWD as a technician. With the expertise of the laboratory technician, the 3R (Repair to Reduce Requisition) policy is implemented. This ensures the adequacy of computer units to be used by the students.

Students are given orientation about the laboratory rules and regulations to avoid any accident. These rules are regulations are conspicuously posted in the laboratory. Also, computer literacy manual is available to provide thorough instructions and guidelines which include simple to complex uses of computer laboratory as an aid to learning. Moreover, an internet connection with a speed that can cater all computer units is installed in the laboratory.

Speech or language laboratory is a facility that can be found at College of Arts, Sciences and Technology, where students have an exposure to dedicated equipment for teaching practical side of English language. The language laboratory is a very helpful tool for practicing and assessing one’s speech in any language. It provides a facility which allows the student to listen to model pronunciation, repeat and record the same, listen to their performance and compare with the model, and do self-assessment.

Since the language laboratory gives every learner of any language freedom to learn at their own pace, it is flexible and does not necessarily require a teacher all the time. At the same time, it is possible for teachers to provide assistance individually and collectively. The language laboratory allows every participant his or her privacy to speak and listen.

All laboratory equipment is stored properly, cleaned and checked regularly because the school has maintenance and repair personnel which provide services on direct call such as in the Science and Mathematics Department which houses the Biology, Chemistry and Physics laboratory. Repairs which are technical and beyond the knowledge of the personnel mentioned above are channeled to the respective distributors or suppliers.
