Best Practices

The teaching role of faculty members reflects their centrality in addressing the primary educational mission. As faculty members teach, they disseminate and impart basic or applied knowledge to students and assist students with the learning process and applying the knowledge.

The teacher is the content expert, and students are regarded as learners or novices to the academic discipline or field of study. Faculty members are expected to follow developments in the field so their expertise and knowledge base remain current. At Pangasinan State University – ABEL Department, faculty members are expected to participate in creating the new developments about appropriate priorities for research and teaching roles. In this regard, the university secures that the highly qualified applicants are selected, promoted and given opportunities for professional growth.

Having department meetings regularly, be it physical or virtual and developing accomplishment reports or planning schedules serve as great blueprints for every member as they all fulfill their duties systematically in order to respond promptly and appropriately to various dilemmas.

PSU ABEL Department proves that the values of empathy and solidarity continue to emerge even in the darkest moments as countless programs were introduced to reach out to deprived residents and various groups like TODA members, hospital staffs, security forces and other frontliners as we all battle against the onslaught of COVID-19 Pandemic.

The faculty members ensure that they are present during meetings which enable the faculty to demonstrate and maintain harmonious interpersonal relations with students, faculty and the community including campus and university events. The faculty are recommended to gain their professional growth through continuing their further studies, and by engaging in local, national, and international conferences, seminars and workshops. They are also encouraged to be resource speakers and presenters of their researches in every event possible. The faculty is allowed to update and enrich the course syllabus every semester based on the current issues and events, and new volumes of books, journals that are related to the subject and accordance to the subject description, preferred learning outcomes and program outcomes aligned to the vision, mission goals and objectives of the university.

Annually, recognition to the outstanding faculty member is awarded to acknowledge their commitment, passion and contributions to the university as they manifest a commendable level of professionalism. The success of a teacher is not gauged on how many awards he has received throughout his career but on the number of students who became successful because of his immense help.
PSU ABEL envisions to produce high-caliber professional who will serve the interest and welfare of the nation by providing quality education and training which they can use in fulfilling their responsibilities as public servants.
