Engineer Marilou Fernandez, Chair of ME Department, confidently answers the queries of an AACUPP accreditor
Indeed, sense of fulfillment fills the air in the Mechanical Engineering department.
The Mechanical Engineering Department passed the second level accreditation held last December 6-8, 2016.
The accreditation was conducted by Accrediting Agency of the Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP), Inc. The accrediting body looked into different areas, such as mission and vision, faculty curriculum and instruction, support to student’s research, extension, library, physical plant and facilities, laboratories, and administration.
The tremendous effort put forth in the preparation of documents and facilities paid off, as the department was granted Level II re-accredited status.
ME Department was able to meet the requirements to be accorded the level 2 status, as it has obtained 3.50 grand mean. To qualify for level 2 status, the department should meet a minimum area mean of 3.00. Having garnered more than what is required, the ME Department is proud to be given “very good” descriptive rating.
The above-mentioned rating reflects the concerted effort of the ME faculty headed by Engineer Marilou Fernandez, under the deanship of very able Engineer Resurreccion V. Garrote, Dean of College of Engineering and Architecture.
The Pangasinan State University – Urdaneta Campus has once again proved its excellence and exemplarity by ranking 5th among the top performing schools in the November 2016 Civil Engineering Licensure Examination.
In just two working days after the last day of examination, the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announced that 534 out of 918 passed the Civil Engineer Licensure Examination, 48 of which were from the PSU-Urdaneta Campus. Garnering an 85.71% passing rate, Urdaneta Campus was placed among the top universities in the Philippines like the University of the Philippines – Diliman, and the University of Santo Tomas.
PSU-Urdaneta started as an offshoot of Asingan Campus. It was originally established as a satellite of the said campus before it assumed the status of a full-fledged campus.
In 1981, Asingan Campus offered additional degree programs in Engineering and Architecture. Phenomenal increase in enrolment ensued. This necessitated the establishment of Urdaneta satellite in order to accommodate the growing number of students in the following years. In view of this, Dr. Asanion, who was the Dean of Asingan Campus during that time, initiated the establishment of satellite campus in the City of Urdaneta. The plan materialized with the cooperation of then Mayor Amadeo Perez Jr. and other concerned government agencies.
The Pangasinan State University – Urdaneta Campus produced three topnotchers and a new set of engineers in the September 2016 Registered Electrical Engineer (REE) and Registered Master Electrician (RME) Licensure Examination released by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) on Wednesday, September 7, 2016.
Engr. William Noces placed 2nd in the REE and landed 10th in the RME gaining the scores of 91.10% and 88.50% respectively. Engr. Jayson Onza, on the other hand, notched the 8th rank in the REE garnering the average score of 89.40%. Completing the campus’ topnotchers list is Engr. Javlin Domaoan Badua who secured the 6th spot in the RME examination with the average score of 90.50%.
